Pro-life Essay Contest Open to Youth
The Youth Apostles Institute is pleased to announce its 14th annual pro-life essay contest. The theme for the contest is “Human From the Start.”
Through the contest, the Youth Apostles Institute hopes to provide a way for young people to express their pro-life beliefs and the values they have been taught at home, at school, and in ministry programs. It also hopes to provide an activity that teachers and youth ministers may find to be a useful supplement or complement to activities they lead.
There will be two divisions: Junior (grades 7 and 8) and Senior (grades 9-12). Prizes include first place ($100 U.S. Savings Bond), second place ($75 U.S. Savings Bond), and third place ($50 U.S. Savings Bond). Honorable mention certificates also will be awarded.
Entries may be typed or handwritten and are to be approximately 400 words long. Young people may enter as individuals as well as through a school or ministry program. Entries must include name, grade level, school and/or parish, and address. Entries must address the topic and express a pro-life view embracing respect for unborn human life. Entries must be mailed or delivered to John Iekel, Youth Apostles Institute, 1600 Carlin Lane, McLean, Virginia 22101 by Monday, November 12, 2007 (if they are to be delivered, please call (703) 556-0914 to notify).
