WorkCamp
 |
What is WorkCamp?
WorkCamp is a week-long intentional Christian community for
high-school aged youth. We begin each day with the celebration
of Mass before going to work sites where we serve those in
need by making their homes safer, warmer, and drier. The evening
program consists of Christian entertainment, songs, and speakers.
A reconciliation service is always a part of the week and
Eucharistic adoration is frequently the way we close the day.
Who can go?
Senior High Youth, rising sophomores, juniors and seniors
who are active members of their parish youth group may attend
with a ratio of 5 youth to 1 chaperone. Parishes wishing to
attend need to designate one person to attend WorkCamp as
stakeholder who will attend all of the required
preparation meetings.
Where is WorkCamp held?
WorkCamp is held within our Diocesan boundaries. We are presently
serving the community around Orange, VA and using Orange County High School for our Home Base.
How much does it cost?
The cost is $450.00 per participant.

Sports Leagues
 |
The Arlington diocese has a very active Catholic
Youth Organization (Northern Virginia Junior CYO) sports program.
These leagues are for younger kids who are not yet in high school.
You should contact your parish for more details about the leagues
that you can participate in. For general questions, contact
Greg Rayman at (703)
916-1637.
The Office of Youth Ministry also sponsors sports tournaments
for high school aged youth. These tournaments are designed
to provide youth with competitive sports leagues while maintaining
a Christian spirit and attitude during the entire season.
Sports can acquaint people with one another, build trust,
encourage spontaneity, mix and blend groups, and help youth
to release energy!

Parish Programs
 |
My parish does not have a youth ministry.
How can we get one?
The first step is to talk to your pastor/administrator about
your desire to have a strong youth ministry and that you are
interested in helping to make it happen! Feel free to contact
Kevin in the Office of Youth Ministry for ideas or suggestions.
Which parishes offer summer activities for children, junior high, or
senior high youth?
Each parish plans separate activities for their individual
parish. If your parish is not providing anything then the
first thing to do is to speak with your pastor or youth minister
about your desire for summer activities. In the event that
you still have no activities, then you can call neighboring
parishes to inquire if their programs are open to individuals
outside their parishes.
