Why I am a Youth Minister
|
| |
Pope John Paul II exhorted the youth during his papal visit to St. Louis in 1999 to, "Train yourself for devotion" (1 Tim 4:7). The training of which he speaks is necessary for the youth that they might give themselves without reservation to the Lord and to the vocation He calls each of His children. I am a youth minister to help the teens of St. John the Baptist take this call seriously, not only spiritual training, but also mentally, physically, and emotionally. Helping the youth know and live the human and theological virtues is another reason why I am in this position. As the Holy Father told the youth "{Christ} wants you - all of you to be light to the world, as only young people can be light. It is time to let your light shine!" My prayer each day is that the Holy Spirit guides me to help the youth to answer to this call and be His light in the world. |
