Why I am a Youth Minister

For as long as I can remember, I have had a calling to ministry in the Church. In college, my calling became more defined as a calling to serve the youth of our Church. We have many challenges facing us as a Church and as a called people.
We face the struggles of instilling a firm academic and emotional understanding of what it is to be Catholic, while competing with other things in our society that lull teens into a false sense of happiness and joy. I feel that when a teen does understand and experience Catholicism, what it is to be a Catholic, there exist no rival.
I truly believe that if our youth do not fully understand/experience their faith and tradition, then they will be unable to defend it.
